Over the weekend I was cleaning out some kitchen cabinets and found this little pocket maker that the hubby bought for me as a stocking stuffer.

Double Pork Roast

Now that Pixie and Buggies are home for summer, I’ve enlisted their help in running our home. I looked into lots of different chore ideas on Pinterest until I came up with an idea that worked for us. It’s evolved since its inception and I will post the whole kit and caboodle (Ooooooo! Caboodles!!! Remember those from the 80’s?!) in my next post.

The hubby works for the best company on the planet. Hands down; the best company any hubby could work for. The owner of the company is by far the greatest and most compassionate leader I’ve ever met who values his employees down to their core. He is knowledgable in everything from chopping down a tree to the legal ramifications of said tree and the effect its chopping will have on the price of tea in China. Well, not really, but you get it—he’s pretty amazing. Because he has created such a special work environment, his employees are equally as wonderful. They are all amazing people and everyone in the office really gels together.

Vietnamese Pork Chops

Vietnamese Pork Chops

Don’t tell anyone but I spent a month in Vietnam competing in an International beauty pageant as Miss USA. I was only 20 years old so my dad went with me. We spent time in Singapore as well and I fell in LOVE with Southeast Asia. I ended up going back for my honeymoon to Bali and Thailand. I love the people, the food, culture, country, history – all of it.

Carnitas Pizza

Carnitas Pizza

What is it with kids dumping every single damn toy out of every bin every single day? I was drowning in barbies, stepping on legos (if you haven’t had the pleasure of stepping on a lego yet, oh just you wait! Your time is coming), being run over by Thomas and the gang of Cars Land and cursing every Disney Princess to have lived.

I took the proactive by the book Mommy approach and created a reward chart for each of my little rugrats.

Spicy Dr. Pepper Pork Tacos

Dinner | February 1, 2012 | By

Obviously I was having a rough week last week. Buggies had pushed me over the edge of sanity and right into the Grand Canyon. Come to find out, poor little miss needed some antibiotics and is doing much, MUCH better. I, of course, feel like “parent of the year” for allowing myself to get so frustrated with her. So, after hugging and kissing her a million times, we packed up our trailer and headed to the beach to do some beach camping. Thanks to global warming, Los Angeles has been 75 degrees for the last week. So, an impromptu camping trip sounded like a great idea. And it was! Three families, six kids and the beach? How could we go wrong! We sat by the campfire, had s’mores and the kids played and played and played. They came home covered in splinters, dirty as could be and totally exhausted. Which means it was a damn good trip.

Six Cup Salt Crusted Pork

Dinner, Grub. | January 16, 2012 | By

Don’t be scared. Don’t close your eyes. I promise this recipe is not as crazy as it looks. And I promise it’s easy. And the pork isn’t salty. And you will love it. And re-pin it. And if you don’t know what it means to “Pin It” then we need to talk.

Smokin’ Butt – Hubby Edition

Dinner, Grub. | October 26, 2011 | By

Special Hubby Edition of BBQ Pulled Pork

Gentlemen, start your grills! Grab a six pack, a lawn chair, and get ready to smoke some butt. Ok, it may not sound as appetizing as it actually is but trust me when I say that there is little in life better than the flavor of a slow smoked butt in your mouth. I like big butts. And I cannot lie.

Roasted Pork Tenderloin with Parmesan Polenta and an Herb Cream Sauce

Dinner, Grub. | August 7, 2011 | By

I go through these kicks where I want to literally empty everything in my fridge and freezer and start anew. By that I mean, cook everything we’ve got. I HATE wasting food – especially produce – so I try to be very conscious of what we have lying around to make. One night I said to Ryan, “Choices are: Potstickers with fried rice, Ramen Pad Thai (I got VERY creative in college) or pork and polenta.” He chose the pork and polenta and… alas! A new recipe was born.

Hubby’s Note: Herb Cream Sauce! Herb Cream Sauce! I want to bathe in it!
